Just another reason why I love youtube - and technology in general. The fact that you can grab a camera for a trip, put a lovely song to it and send it up into the internets is STILL amazing to me and something I think we take for granted. The wealth of technology we have at our fingertips is just overwhelmingly exciting.

I’m not saying that this video is mind blowing or an artistic masterpiece, but it makes me appreciate how far all of this has come in such a short time.

I wonder what the next ten years will bring.

Ranked as NME’s #1 Album of the decade (what?), I recently got interested in re-exploring The Strokes debut album Is This It?

It’s DEFINITELY not #1 of the decade, but this is a great song.

Greatest Sports Commercial ever made? Possibly. I’ve rewatched this maybe a million times, it still gives me the same emotional response.

Excuse me while I go fantasize about a life playing professional sports that won’t happen.

At least there are videogames. And Beer.

Book Report...among other things

Quickly - I finished Wuthering Heights and Mr. Lockwood is a dick, but I enjoyed the experience and am looking for a new book to read (in my girlfriend’s bookshelves, naturally)

The Beatles may never be a band I am fully into. I enjoy some songs immensely, and maybe it’s because I’ve chosen NOW to go through their entire discography, but they just aren’t doing it for me. Perhaps it’s a case of bad timing, or perhaps it’s a case of me listening to too much Ryan Adams and Bruce Springsteen. Whatever it is, the sound isn’t for me.

I hate books

It’s true, I do. I really hate reading. The way the paper smells, the feeling of the paper on my thumb, the sound that the paper makes as it turns…ugh, reading is the worst.

Then again, maybe I haven’t been reading the right books.

I’ve found myself at this point in my life as a part time cashier at Whole Foods and a full time student at Chicago Portfolio School. Conveniently public transit is a block away and work is a mere ten minute walk from my apartment, therefore the car has been eliminated out of my commute.

With this new found “go green” attitude comes the desire to pass the time between point A, B, and C. After some thought, I’ve come to the conclusion that perhaps I should give reading one more go. Maybe this time it’ll stick.

I’ve decided to start off my foray into the world of literature by reading Wuthering Heights as it’s a classic. Also my girlfriend owns it and we just moved in together, so it seemed as if there ever was a time to check this thing out, now would be it.

I’m going to check in with my progress on this book as it goes, either this is a remarkable success or I will admit defeat in a week.
